Lake Minnewaska

13th largest lake in Minnesota. Located 25 miles north of Benson. Known for abundant supply of Walleye. Public swimming beach.


Camp Lake

Located 15 miles northeast of Benson. Stocked with bass, crappies, northern pike, sunfish.


Lake Scandi, Lake Gilchrist, Lake Linka

Nestled close together only 30 minutes northeast of Benson. This chain of lakes offer walleye, sunfish, northern pike, crappies, and large mouth bass. Public beach available at Lake Linka.


Page Lake

Located 20 minutes northwest of Benson, just north of Hancock. Produces when many lakes are not.


Lake Hassel

Located just 4 miles north of Benson. A shallow body of water, provides staging area for waterfowl and popular spot for nature lovers.


Lake Emily

Located 18 miles northwest of Benson had outstanding large mouth bass, northern pike, and walleye.


Lake Johanna

Located 30 miles northeast of Benson provides fishing, bird watching, and is the nesting ground for the giant white egrets.


Norway Lake, Games Lake

Located 25 miles east of Benson. Provides excellent bass, sunfish, and northern pike fishing. Public beach, boat rental, camping available.


Big Stone Lake

Located 40 miles west of Benson on the South Dakota state border. Provides excellent walleye and northern pike fishing.


Lac Qui Parle Wildlife Management Area

Located in Big Stone, Chippewa, Lac Qui Parle, and western Swift Counties. This is one of Minnesota's premiere canadian goose staging areas. Controlled goose hunting provides recreation for hunters from throughout Minnesota.


Danvers Wildlife Management Area

Also called the Danvers Slough provides 1600 acres of prime hunting for waterfowl enthusiasts. The Danvers slough is located just 8 miles west of Benson near the City of Danvers.


Charlie's Hunting Club

Privately owned 6,000 acres of hunting area offers some of the best upland game habitat in the midwest including pheasant, hungarian partridge, rabbit, squirrel, and white tailed deer. Contact Jim Langan at 320-567-2276 or 320-567-2236.


Langhei Hills Shooting Preserve

Over 1,000 acres of Glacial Ridge terrain and vegetation provide the finest upland gamebird habitat in Minnesota which provides a challenge to any sportsman. Lodging, guide dogs, meals, trap thrower, and supplies available. Contact Ken Reese at 320-392-5808.

 
GOLF

The Benson Golf Club is one of the finest and most complete golf facilities in the area.

The 18 hole layout offers a challenging, yet fair, test of golf for all levels of play.

The Chippewa River flows through the course and comes into play on four holes.

There are many oak trees lining the fairways.

The large greens are fast, and there are approximately twelve sand bunkers on the course.
